The Canary Islands have a climate of their own, due in the
first place to their geographical position in the middle of the Atlantic, near
the African coast; secondly, because of their place in the path of the trade
winds, which are responsible for the peculiar character of their climate, and
thirdly, because of the variety of their geographical features, the more
mountainous islands have more rain, such as Tenerife, La Palma and Gran
Canaria, and the less rugged ones, such as Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, have
less rain. Consequently, the mountains have a direct bearing on the amount of
rain that falls and not the proximity of the African continent, as is commonly
believed. Dozens of
airlines fly into the Canary Islands, and all
seven islands have airports. Flying isn't the cheapest way to get around but,
for inter-island trips, it can be much quicker than taking a ferry.There is
plenty of things for you to do in all of the Canary Island Archipelago. Whether
you are looking for a beach holiday, where you can relax and chill out getting
rid of the everyday stress you have back at home and getting a great tan whilst
your at it! Or maybe a sporting holiday be it water sports like surfing,
windsurfing, body boarding, kite boarding,waterskiing, diving and fishing. Or
land sports cycling, golf, hiking. There is plenty to do in all of the main
islands, even some of the smaller ones can be great for some watersports and
some hiking and cycling! If an Active / sightseeing holiday is what you are

whether it is natural or man made, there is everything from Museums, Art
